Your mailbox is erupting with glossy pages peddling wares from retailers you’re not likely to buy from. Your coffee table is stacked with spring fashion catalogs…they just happen to be from last spring.
But, a new iPad application aims to reduce that clutter and keep retailers’ most current offerings at your fingertips.
CoffeeTable, available for free in Apple’s App Store, connects the spirit of traditional catalogs with the instant gratification of ecommerce.
Coffee Table enables users to browse catalogs anywhere – online and offline – and make purchases through a secure in-app checkout.
Among the current roster of catalogs offered by CoffeeTable, there are 40 companies rated STELLAService EXCELLENT, such as Athleta, Coolibar, Delia’s, Land’s End, Miles Kimball, Oriental Trading, ThinkGeek, Title Nine and West Elm.
The company says it adds new catalogs each day.
These retailers show a progressive approach. They’re willing to evolve away from decades-old practices to cater to a new, digitally-engaged consumer.
The potential of tablet-based catalogs has also attracted printing giant RR Donnelley to invest $2.5 million in Real Value Corp., the company behind the CoffeeTable app. Apart from working capital, RR Donnelley provides CoffeeTable access to a broader range of content in new product verticals.
CoffeeTable’s Chief Executive Ben Choi said the relationship will “dramatically improve [the company’s] ability to educate retailers about tablet commerce.”
And, hopefully it will keep your real coffee table a bit tidier.
